My hair loss and growth postpartum

Lately, I’ve been contemplating about going with shorter locks or staying with my signature long hair. The reason? At about 3 months into postpartum I started noticing hair loss and a lot of it, like handfuls of hair in the shower and then on my hair brush. Most of the strands looked like they were caused by breakage and some strands were definitely from the root. I knew this would happen but I didn’t expect to shed this much hair. Yeeeaah, not the best part of postpartum BUT on a happier note and GOOD news … I’m now seeing some GROWTH and especially along the hairline.
I remember looking in the mirror and noticing my hairline looking thinner than usual and when I parted my hair to the side I noticed shorter strands from the front to the back of my head. Peach Fuzz? What was going on? A sudden sadness came over me and I think I panicked a little. But after a few short breathes, calmness settled in and to that...it's going to be O.K. because it is O.K. And I’d have to say that the funny part of it all was that as Brage was shedding and growing new hair I was too. haha! Now 9 months old, Brage's hair is looking dapper and my peach fuzz is now as long as his. Ah, he's so cute!

So I know that this is normal and that we shed hair every day but I feared that, with this much loss, it wouldn’t grow back to its fullest. I’m still taking my prenatal and postnatal vitamins daily and my hair care routine hasn’t changed. I also know genetics has a big role in this but I wonder … is there a way to help my hair grow and strengthen without spending a fortune? Should I change shampoos and conditioners? And if so, which products are best? Does Castor Oil really work? I’ve read reviews and have been advised of it but I haven’t used it yet…so...maybe it’ll be the first thing I’ll try.
Well, this hair care journey will be an adventure and seriously, I now understand why my mom cut her long beautiful hair after having kids. It’s a lot of work to maintain and plus a new do is much needed.
I’ll be sure to make note and update all of you on this hair journey of mine. Any suggestions would be great!
Love Always,
Debbie X
